The HBO Harry Potter TV series is currently making a significant impact on the South West of England, with filming taking place in picturesque locations across Devon and Cornwall. Local residents and businesses are thrilled to host the production of J.K. Rowling's beloved book series.

Specific sites like Cadgwith, Carnglaze Caverns, and Kynance Cove have been transformed into magical backdrops for the upcoming show. Photographer Terry Burton, who captured images of the crew at Kynance Cove, enthusiastically stated that the new series "is going to be fantastic... something like this is absolutely massive for Cornwall."

The production has brought a vibrant atmosphere to even the quietest villages. Luke Smith, who runs The Cleave Inn in Lustleigh, described the area as a "sleepy village" that has experienced "a lot of security" and temporary road closures due to filming. The project is known locally by the codename "Brown Cat." Smith noted the "real buzz" around the village, adding, "If it can increase people coming to us, it can only be a good thing in our eyes." He also mentioned one of his "busiest weekends" during the filming period.

Mark Dowdeswell, owner of the Harry Potter gift shop Swish and Flick in Axminster, observed that the production team is "very tight-lipped." He highlighted Devon's existing connections to the wizarding world, stating, "Devon already has a lot of links with the Potter-world... A lot of the place names in the Potter books, like Budleigh-Babberton, is obviously Budleigh Salterton. I think she (JK Rowling) used a lot Devon influences when she was writing originally."

Fans are also expressing their excitement for the new cast. Lucy Farmer, who owns a Hagrid-style Airbnb in Cornwall, shared her anticipation, noting she was "very excited" for the new series. She also commented on the recasting of Dumbledore, saying, "We loved Richard Harris as Dumbledore and then, sadly, he passed away. Michael Gambon did a very good job in taking over... I'm hoping John Lithgow will do the same." John Lithgow is officially cast as Albus Dumbledore, and we already know Dominic McLaughlin, Arabella Stanton, and Alastair Stout are set to portray Harry Potter, Hermione Granger, and Ron Weasley, respectively.

The highly anticipated series is still on track for its early 2027 launch, promising a fresh and in-depth adaptation for fans worldwide.
